Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved promptly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
