From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group access places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
